Todd Melby + Diane Richard = 2 below zero Todd Melby and Diane Richard are independent radio producers and print journalists based in Minneapolis. They are also a couple, with kids/stepkids, a mortgage and a French bulldog named Louis to prove it. In 2004, Diane and Todd's documentary for Chicago Public Radio's Speaking of Sex series won the Edward R. Murrow Award for best radio news documentary. The documentary is called "Spirit and Body Willing: Sex over Age 70." In 2005, the pair produced "Consuming Desire," a documentary on compulsive shopping and obsessive collecting for Chicago Public Radio. In 2006, Diane and Todd produced "Flatlined: How Illinois Shortchanges Rural Students," a documentary for Chicago Public Radio's "Valuing Education" series. That piece won an SPJ Sigma Delta Chi award for best radio documentary. Todd's radio work has aired on NPR's Day to Day, The World, Marketplace, The Savvy Traveler, Justice Talking, The Environment Report and KFAI in Minneapolis. Diane's radio work has aired on The Savvy Traveler, The Environment Report and KFAI. She has written for HOW magazine, the Star Tribune, Minnesota Monthly, Architecture Minnesota and CityBusiness, among many others. Todd received his bachelor's degree from Hamline University, in St. Paul, and his master's degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. Diane received her bachelor's degree from Smith College, in Northampton, Mass, and her master's in journalism from the University of Missouri, Columbia.
