Radio from the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities - because ideas matter.
What we're up to:
With Good Reason: Celebrating our 15th anniversary! Each week, host Sarah McConnell engages college professors in lively discussions about their research covering virtually every topic area imaginable, from the heated debate over using prescription drugs to treat children with ADHD to the ageless appeal of Hawaiian shirts to an analysis of the patterns of events that lead to genocide. If scholars are writing about it, With Good Reason is talking about it. In recent programs, Siva Vaidhyanathan of the University of Virginia offers insight into Google's impact on American culture and Amy Clark of UVA-Wise shares how cultural literacy is conveyed through the Appalachian tradition of quilting. Accompanying news features and custom promos available.
Humanities Feature Bureau: Three and a half minute features designed as drop-ins for Morning Edition and All Things Considered. Independent producers present the sounds of the humanities in public life: how we interact with architecture, community history, literature, ethics and technology in 21st century America.
